History:

My previous Pontiac (1996 Grand Prix GTP) was a giant POS, and I made enough noise with Pontiac Customer Service that they ended up sending me a check for almost $4000 if I would just drop the whole thing. The only catch was that I had to use the money on the purchase of a new Pontiac.

After my horrible experience with the Grand Prix, the only car I even considered was the Firebird. A local dealership agreed to sell me one for $50 over invoice if I special ordered from them, so I went down that day to work out the details. I initially wanted a black WS6 Formula, but a couple of things changed my mind. The first was when I saw some of the f-bodies on the lot in Pewter Metallic, and the second was when I realized that my fully optioned Formula would cost about the same as a similarly optioned Trans Am. The car was ordered in February of 99, and after many delays, was finally delivered at the end of May, 1999. Since then, the car has participated in charity events, autocrossing, daily driving, and some drag racing. At first, I planned to keep the car all stock...then, I decided that I might want to do some suspension mods, but that was it...I think that lasted maybe a month before I had all kinds of plans for what I wanted to do. :) I think the appearance and suspension mods are done now, but I still have a lot of work to do on the engine and drivetrain. :)
